This is my sister and her ‘boyfriend’, Luis.
Basically, they both went to a special school when they were about 6, and they met there. They were legit inseparable. Our mom and his mom took turns in taking them to the movies, to McD’s; sometimes he would just chill at our house and vice versa. When they weren’t together, he would call our house and in his cute little voice he would say ‘hi! can i talk to mariana please? i miss her’. It was the most adorable thing ever. My sister eventually got moved to a regular school because the teachers decided she was too advanced to be held back in the special school. OH MY GOD, i can’t believe to explain how much she was crying when she found out. However that certainly didn’t stop them from seeing each other practically every day. They literally MADE their parents take them out because they just needed to see each other.
When we found out we were moving halfway across the world(at this point they were about 9), they spent an entire day at the park, holding hands and he wouldn’t let her go. When they said goodbye, he did the cutest thing. He gave her a big hug and he said ‘you’re my girlfriend, i love you’ and he kissed her on the cheek.
It is now four years later, and they continue to talk on the phone every other day. I don’t even know what they talk about, but they talk for hours and at the end of each conversation, I always hear her say ‘I love you luis! I miss you!’.
This is proof that children with special needs aren’t that different to us.
and if this isn’t love, i sure as hell don’t know what is.
